Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Senior BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav has filed his nomination for the position of Bihar assembly Speaker, accompanied by notable leaders including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha. The nomination comes ahead of the election for the new Speaker, scheduled for February 15, as announced by the Bihar Assembly Secretary.
The vacancy arose following the removal of Rashtriya Janata Dal's (RJD) Awadh Bihari Chaudhary through a no-confidence motion on Monday. Chaudhary, who held the position for less than one-and-a-half years, was succeeded by Vijay Kumar Sinha as the Speaker of the present Vidhan Sabha. With Yadav's extensive political experience and the numbers favoring the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), his election as the new Speaker appears likely.
